How Many Hours Do You Really Need a Wedding Photographer For?

If you’re planning a large, festive celebration, we always recommend booking a photographer for a full day at least 8 hours. This allows us to capture everything: the getting ready moments, an on-location photo session, the ceremony, dinner, décor, and all the joyful details in between.

But what if you’re planning something more intimate like an elopement for two in Santorini? Do you really need 8 hours of photography?

For many couples, especially those who aren’t fans of being in front of the camera for too long, that amount of time can feel overwhelming. If your goal is to have a beautiful wedding album without an exhausting shoot, 4 hours may be just right.

In 4 hours, we can comfortably cover:

  • The bride and groom getting ready (usually takes 1–1.5 hours)
  • The wedding ceremony (around 1 hour)
  • A short photo walk

The key here is choosing the right wedding venue — ideally, one with picturesque spots nearby or easy access to stunning photo locations.

We usually offer our couples a “photo menu” a curated collection of wedding images taken in different villages across Santorini. This helps you decide which views and settings resonate with you most. And finally, we often have just enough time left for golden hour sunset shots or the beginning of your private dinner.
